Tree Work
“Our tree work covers a variety of services, from tree felling to woodland management services.”
Tree felling is the complete removal of unwanted, dead or diseased trees. We can also clean out, removing dead and diseased wood, ivy, or broken, crossing or epicormic branches.
We also specialise in pruning services, like crown thinning and crown reduction, which promote growth and good health. Crown thinning is the removal of internal branches throughout the tree, maintaining the overall size and shape of the tree. It will reduce weight on the tree’s limbs, preventing damage from high winds and letting in more light and air through the canopy.
Crown reduction reduces the crown in height or spread, whilst keeping the tree’s natural shape, and a crown lift is the removal of lower branches beneath a tree’s crown – this is often done to allow traffic to pass safely, or to help more daylight to pass through a tree.
As for woodland management, we can advise you on services like pollarding, where we cut off a tree stem 2m above ground level to encourage lateral branches, and we do this repeatedly over a few years. Eventually, the tree trunk will expand, and new side and top shoots will grow, protecting valuable timber from browsing animals.
Coppicing, a more traditional method of woodland management, is where young tree stems are cut down to a foot or less from ground level, encouraging new shoots. So, if you need tree work, we can help you with our wide range of experience and expertise.
